The EU Parliament endorsed the provisional agreement on the AI Act Regulation on 13 March 2024, with an overwhelming majority. This first legislative initiative aims to regulate AI, promoting safe and reliable AI systems while ensuring the protection of EU citizens’ fundamental rights. FERA welcomed the regulation, which addresses compliance with EU copyright laws, transparency of AI model training data, and labeling of AI-generated content. The Act will enter into force 20 days after its publication and will apply two years later, with specific provisions in place.
