Eco Responsibility Training at the Conservatoire Europeen du Costume

Workshop: Training in the creation and eco-responsible restoration of stage costumes

The Conservatoire Europeen du Costume reopens to offer a new 4-week seminar called “Training in the creation and eco-responsible restoration of stage costumes”. The seminar starts in January (06.01.-31.01.2025) and has a great schedule around eco-design and recycling.

For the workshop, the organizers collected unusable costumes from rental companies, which will serve as a working support for the students. The participants learn to recreate the costumes by exploring each phase of a costume designer’s work.
After the seminar, the costumes will be given back to the rental companies and reintroduced to the rental stock, so the recycling comes full circle.

The training by educators Chouchane Abello, Nelly Boulesteix, and Barbara Gassier is aimed at students, professionals, and future professionals. It contains technical training that covers all the steps of a costume designer and meets the requirements of a professional production. This leads to the integration of the costumes and also the students into their professional fields.
