The Association of Designers for the Performing and Audiovisual Arts in Spain (AAPEE), a member of ARTSCENICO, held the second edition of the Yvonne Blake Awards on November 11th in Madrid. These awards, unique in Europe, aim to recognize the work of costume designers in both stage and screen, while giving visibility to our profession.

This year, in addition to the national categories in Film, TV Series, Musical/Lyrical Performance, and Theatre/Dance, we had the pleasure of welcoming international participants: Carlo Poggioli (ASC – Italy) with Parthenope, Linda Bogers (AMC – Netherlands) with Tegendraads, and Susana Abreu (Portugal) with O Pior Homem de Londres.

The international award went to Carlo Poggioli for Parthenope, directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The prize was presented by the legendary Jenny Beavan, multiple Oscar-winning costume designer, whom we were honored to have as our special guest.

From AAPEE, we want to thank the participating European associations. The collaboration through ARTSCENICO has been key in helping us grow stronger as a collective.
