ARTSCENICO is part of the open letter to the European Film Academy regarding the representation of our various departments during the ceremony.
“We were extremely disappointed with the way in which the awards for certain categories Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Make-Up & Hair, Original Score, Sound, Visual Effects – were presented at the annual European Film Awards ceremony in December of 2022.”
While Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Make-Up & Hair, Original Score, Sound and Visual Effects are now listed one by one on the EFA-Page, they weren’t named or given any opportunity to speak during the ceremony, the Facebook-Announcement didn’t even mention their names nor professions, adding to the injury.
The Art & Costume Department constantly fights for representation and recognition, once again we were told to be the unimportant branch of filmmaking, whereas without our preparations and work on and off set – before, during, and after filming – there are no films made!
