On December 7th, the 37th European Film Awards were presented in Lucerne. It was the first ceremony that Juliette Binoche opened as the new jury president. She presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Wim Wenders.

Wenders emphasized European solidarity and the power of cinema: “I really urge you to think about what you can do for Europe, because Europe needs the film community to create a more positive, a more emotional image of a continent that is a little lost in translation, because too many people think of it as an economic community, but it’s an emotional unity and it gives us strength and we should give it our strength now.”

Tanja Hausner was awarded Best Costume Design for her work in the Austrian-German Coproduction ‘THE DEVIL’S BATH’ (Heimatfilm – Bettina Brokemper).

Congratulations to both of these exceptional filmmakers!
